RECRUITMENT INTIATIVES

E.E.O. Public Services announcements ran on WKLX-FM, WOVO-FM, WPTQ-FM, WWKN-FM, and WWKU-AM during April 2018 through March 2019. These are announcements intended to reach organizations or job seekers, informing them of employment opportunities or to contact us if they would like to receive job vacancy notices. They also announce to the public that we are an equal opportunity employer.
Dale Thornhill and Derron Steenbergen spoke to a group of Western Kentucky University students on behalf of the KPA WKU Radio Talent Institute about the opportunities on careers in broadcasting in July 2018.
October 2018 — Derron Steenbergen spoke to broadcasting and marketing classes at Western Kentucky University about opportunities and careers in radio broadcasting offered by our corporation.
Community Partnership co-op/Intern Program at the South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College. We consistently accept student interns who are interested in radio broadcasting.
Derron Steenbergen spoke to a Broadcast Operations & Management class at Western Kentucky University in February 2019 on careers in radio sales and operations. Student tours were given later that day of the Bowling Green stations.
Operated an exhibit at the Southern Kentucky Expo where employment information was distributed to those persons interested in radio-related careers in August 2018.
Continued partnership with the Western Kentucky University broadcasting department’s Internship Program.
Hosted Bowling Green Leadership class for the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce outreach program discussing careers in broadcasting.
Greg Bowen, Sales Manger, managed a display at Western Kentucky University’s “Welcome Back WKU” event in August 2018. Greg spoke with students attending the university-sponsored event about opportunities for careers in radio marketing and broadcasting.
October 2018 and February 2019 — Greg Bowen attended career fairs at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky. During the fairs he discussed the specific qualities required to be an employee of Commonwealth Broadcasting as well as an overview of radio broadcasting and marketing’s general education requirements.
Worked with Western Kentucky University broadcasting students to provide job shadowing and potential employment opportunities.
